Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

5/5

Although we've had great movies this month, it is Pirates that everyone is truly waiting for. Well...ITS HERE! After watching it on Friday, I was amazed with the astounding effects, amazing fighting sequences, great plot(s), and vicious pirate sleuthing like never before. This film started off basically right where Dead Man's Chest finished, making it easy for fans to understand.

Highlights

Everything. This movie was great. Whether it was the dimension travelling into Davy Jones' locker, the beautiful scenery, the action, the graphics and the many hilarious pirates this is truly the best of its kind and i dare any film maker to try and make a better Disney film.

Lowlights

....

Final Reveiw: Pirates is truly a must see for die hards and for never-before fans. Although you should rent the 2nd before watching this one. The best of all the Pirates.

CD Review: After 5 Years, im Still Back At Your Door

Maroon 5 - It Won't Be Soon Before Long

5/5

Okay, yes! It's finally in my hands, after the LONG five year wait from "Songs About Jane (Another 4.5/5 HIT!)" which came out in 2002. This album had a lot to live up to. Did it? HELL YA (sort of ironic that Artist of the month always gets a great mark)! Maroon 5's new CD may take 2 listens to get used to, but the second listen is surely the most fun you will have. This CD takes you back to the 80's with great tunes and that old classical Bass guitar taking the lead. I wasn't in the 80's (btw). The lyrics are a little less "Let's have wild sex" and a little more emotional. Basically, this is the break-up with Jane and although some are "let's have wild sex" only about 2 are. Is this better than Songs About Jane? Yes, it is. Why? Well, the CD is more or less a risk. Songs About Jane was a very safe CD. What I mean by that is they stayed to one true sound. In this one, they change their sound numerously, hense the riskiness.

If I Never See Your Face Again - This song is a great sart to the CD, infact it intensifes the CD. It makes a powerful beat and is more or less the old Maroon

Makes Me Wonder- We all know this song, it's catchy and great! But after a while, it sorta is the victim of the > >Button.

A Little Of Your Time- This is the sex song. It's catchy enough to be great. In fact it could be a possible single.

Wake Up Call- The next single. It's got to grow on you. But it still is quite good, I really like the lyrics.

Won't Go Home Without You- This is most likely going to be the third single. It's the first slow song on this CD. It's quite good. It is the old Maroon 5.

Nothing Lasts Forever- This song's chorus is actually the line that Adam Levine (lead singer) sang in the Kanye West song "Heard Em Say". This is another slow song, and most likely the best song on the CD. The first listen is mixed.

Can't Stop- This is the first song that you really love ont he first listen. It's very rockish and more or less like a newer Maroon 5. This should be a single.

Goodnight, Goodnight- This, would be the greatest Maroon 5 song ever. It packs so much lyrical power and great beats.

Not Falling Apart- Probably the least favourite of all the songs. It's liek old Maroon 5 and it's a good song, but compared to the CD as a whole, it's not that good.

Kiwi- This would be the last "Lets have wild sex" song. It's catchy and reminds me of true Maroon colour.

Better That We Break- Takes getting used to. But at one point while listening to this CD it will get stuck in your head and remain there.

Back At Your Door- Great Song. Sort of like "Sunday Morning" type of beat, but more active.

This is one of the best CD's of the year. To me, it's tie with Avril for first spot.

Best Songs: 1. Goodnight, Goodnight, 2.Nothing Lasts Forever, 3.Back at your door, 4. can't Stop, 5. If i never see your face again, 6. A Little of your time, 7. Wake Up Call, 8. Kiwi, 9. Better that we break, 10. Won't Go Home Without You, 11. Not Falling Apart, 12. Makes Me Wonder

Movie Review: Ogre Loses Some Colour

Shrek the Third

3.5/5

When Shrek came out back in 2002, the laughs were continuous and the movie had become the most popular animated movie in years, beating out Toy Story. Then, in 2004 when Shrek 2 came out, everyone figured that the movie would suck and ruin the whole idea of Shrek. Luckily, it didn't. Shrek 2 was actually better than the first and introduced the best character in the world; Puss In Boots! Then when Shrek 3 came out, people believed that it would also be amazing. Wrong. Although Shrek the Third is a great movie, it seriously does not live up to its predecessors. Maybe if you never saw the first 2, you would have been delighted and thought it was amazing. Sure, all Shrek movies are great, but at the same time, there's no point in ruining the series for money. This one doesn't ruin the series, but I'm sure the fourth and fifth they've got planned will surely be enough. Maybe its not a matter of ruining the series; individually the movie is quite good. The ideas are out there but dont go that far.

Highlights

Well; the movie does have very good jokes throughout the first half. In fact there are some that you're laughing out loud. The characters also all stayed true to themselves and the personalities weren't changed.

Lowlights

The movie's second half was quite rushed. Also, the movie wasn't as good as the first two.

Final Review: Shrek 3 is good; but not good enough.

Single Review: Catchy Song Will Be this Summer's Hit

Rihanna-Umbrella

4/5

Rihanna has another CD coming out. I know crazy! Considering the first one came out in 2005 and the second in 2006. She obviously works hard enough to produce 3 CDs in 3 years. This is her best song yet. Sadly, we all know Rihanna only has 1 good song per CD "Pon De Replay", "SOS" and now "Umbrella". The first listen will turn you off totally, the second listen will have you jumping out of your seat going crazy. Jay-Z does nothing for this song, but the catchiness will make it the summer hit of this year!!!

CD Review: A long wait for a long wait...

Linkin Park- Minutes to Midnight

2.5/5

Long time no see; all of a sudden Linkin Park comes back after a 4 year waiting period with a measley 12 tracks and an album that takes a long time to get used to. This first time you listen to it you wish it wasn't the CD. The second time, you declare that it's "okay". The third time, you begin to get used to it, but only a few songs. The fourth time, you finally like it. That's just not good enough. People will quickly deny this CD and put it on the back shelf after listening to it twice and thinking its just okay. Sure, the die hard fans will convince themselves that its a great CD and it's catchy. But that's only because they have to re-assure themselves that their fave band is still doing good. Although some tracks have you bopping your head, others have you falling asleep and some have u pressing the > > (Fast Forward) button on your CD player continuously (reminds me of Year Zero-NIN). So after waiting 4 years, the climax drops to failure and then grows again. But after such a long wait what non-die hard fan would want to wait another 4 listens?

First Ever Movie Review: Web-Slinger Lands On The Tallest Of Buildings

Spider-Man 3

4.5/5

Caution; Minor Spoilers may be ahead!!!

When Spider-Man was released in 2002, the market of Superhero movies was at an all time high. Although Batman and Superman had franchises before, they were no match for the great Spider-Man. The first film branched off into a movie franchise in which has broken worldwide box office records with each release. "Spider-Man 3" has already grossed 350$ million worldwide in one weekend, with predictions of box office breakthrough by the end of May. Spider-Man has made his mark, but is it rubbing off?

High-Points

Almost everything in this movie is something to shout about. Whether it's the awesome graphics that bring the action sequences, Sandman, and Venom to life or the different sides that we see of Peter Parker; Spider-Man 3 is the best of its franchise. The movie is also quite a difference to the others, since the bad guys actually have somethinbg to fight for (in this case; revenge) instead of just wanting to "Kill Spider-Man" for no reason (Green Goblin) or to take over the city (Dr. Octopus). Not only that but Sandman has a quite unique story of his own on the side. He has a daughter who has cancer, and is trying to steal money for her medication while on the run as an escaped convict and the "Sandman". The movie has amazing effects and is worth claiming the title of best Superhero Movie ever.

Low-Points

The only low-point of the movie is the corny lines. Like "Am I interrupting"(Harry whike trying to fight off Sandman and get Peter's attention), or "I Forgive You" (When Peter and Sandman have an intimate converstion about Uncle Ben's death). But besides that, I see no other flaws.

I reccomend that you check out this movie for sure. You won't be dissapointed by the webslinging hero at all.

Single Review: Never Again-Kelly Clarkson

So, after confusing us with that "One Minute" song that Kelly sang at the Daytona 500 Race, she actually chose a single. "Never Again" is the most fierce of all the Kelly Clarkson songs. It's basically about a guy who betrayed her for another woman. The song has a good tone to it as rock vibes pulse through your head as you listen. Her voice sounds awesomely demonic and she's taking a new spin on her music. Not to mention that she wrote tis one! Looks like Idol's contract can't last forever. So, is the change better or worse...well this is exactly like Avril. When the style of music changes, so do most of the fans. I still think Kelly will be able to make a huge hit with this song and her upcoming release "My December". So, yes, it's for the better.

Final Review: 4.5/5

Clarkson is back and more powerful than ever.
